HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAMMY

Well, yesterday marked the anniversary of Sammy's arrival into this world. That's right, one year ago today we were sitting on Good Sam hospital in Monsey struggling to change our 7lb 11oz unnamed baby's newborn size diaper since we didnt know what to do. Today, we are at home in Riverdale, struggling to change our approximatley 25 lb Sammy's size 4 diaper since he refuses to stay still and enjoys kicking his legs while we change him. Here are some recent pics of Sammy:

Taking a ride on Sammy's bike Who's 1 years old now?

Anyways, alst night we had all the aunts and uncles and grandparents over and we had a great time at the party - Sammy got a ton of cool presents (some entertain me as well) and we had delicious food and a great Carvel ice cream cake. Go Sammy!!!!

Well, i'm on vacation = going off to Israel on Sunday - so this is the last from me for a while. We're chilling at the Dead Sea for a few days before heading to Jerusalem for the rest of the time. When i get back, I start on the floors - so I will actually be working hard! I'm very much looking forward to it.

thats if for now. Hopefully when i get back the mets and yanks will be well in control of their division (for the mets that means being 20 games up) , and hopefully none of my FFL peeps get injured.

Shabbat Shalom!

The Week

Well, I guess I am not getting to here as frequently as I would like still - but I am here nonetheless. Last week was fine - more clinics - didnt get called in anymore and on my day off on Wednesday I went to go meet Korn in Foxwoods - came out EXACTLY even. First time that ever happened. It was great to see him - he shaved so he looks familiar again = )

I dont really know what else to write, and honestly dont feel quite like writing now. Today we went to our neighbors Melissa and Evan (Evan is a ortho intern at Monte, who as it ends up went to Lavi with Shosh) for lunch - which was really nice. We took Sammy to the park later on in the day, which was great - he loves it - and it so much fun to see him smile. I love him! He's the best (except when he bites - he's still the best, but the best with sharp teeth).

I am mainly preoccupied with my upcoming vacation -- i start my vacation this Wednesday and as of now, we are still scheduled to go to Israel next Sunday. Despite the cease fire which goes into effect Monday morning I really do not feel like going to Israel at this point. I just dont want to go. I don't think it is particularly safe now and I feel it is mildly irresponsible to bring Sammy to such a volatile region. But I still don't know what we are going to do since Shosh really wants to go and her entire family is going. After all that has just been going on now, I just dont want to go. And Bon Jovi's Blaze of GLory is playing now in the background - not the perfect song for while I am writing this.

I saw the fattest kid on Friday - i mean this was an almost 3 year old who was off the chart - and really, literally - on the growth curve, his weight would have been not only off the printed chart but off the freakin paper. Amazing.

allrighty - at least i ended this on some levity. Oh yeah - I really like the new Five For Fighting song - the riddle. Strongly recommend it! Havent seen any movies recently - watching Lost season 1 (best show on TV now) with Shosh and also House Season 2- got to catch up b4 the new seasons! Finales of Treasure Hunters and So You Think You Can Dance are on this week, so we have abusy week of TV watching ahead of us.

And oh yeah- Sammy turns one on Thursday. Unbelievable, eh?

The weekend...

Well, i got called in for sick call on friday night - went to the ER for a few hours, sewed up a kids foot and saw a few other kids. Shabbos was ok - caight up a few daf in Yoma, though I am still a ton back. Sammy is absolutley adorable - we went to the park on shabbso and saw anotehr dog - and he just cracked up when the dog was licking his foot... its pretty hysterical. On sunday we went to my parents house to go swimming and saw my grandparents and aunts/uncles/ cousins. It was very nice.
Today was ok. Diabetes clinic in the AM - bleech, and ENt clinic in the afternoon which was actually much better than I thought it would be.

Treasure hunters on tonight!

Panic at teh disco's album was straight through a damn good album. i'd give it 3/4 stars. i love the lead singers voice... Took a brief listen at Tom Petty's new album - Highway Companion. Ineedto listen again b4 I give my final verdict, but I think i'll put it at 3/4 stars as well - with the first half of thr album being better than the second half.

that's it for now all.

oh yeah, NFL started with my Raiders beating the Philly Eagles 16-10. 1-0 in the preseason! whoo hoo!

It's Been a While...

Yes, the title of a decent StainD song, but also the last time I actually posted. I'd love to say my negligence in pisting is due to a hectic work schedule - but that's not really it. Today we did finish our first month of residency (whoo-hoo) but since I was doing outpatient the entire month, it was not rediculously busy. So, the only excuse I can offer is that it feels like 110 outside, I have spent a good deal of my evenings unpacking and setting up and building stuff, and I've been lazy.
Tomorrow I continue with my specialty clinics, and I am on sick call - so beeper with me 24/7 ready to take some ill comrades place on the floors if duty shall call. Residency has been great so far, I love my fellow interns - i have spent a tremendous amount of time with Mike and Ginger, which is great since they are both amazingly friendly people. Mike is very much into sports (including fantasy sports) which means we neevr run out of things to discuss/debate. I love my continuity clinic, my preceptor, Dr. Stevens is awesome and I think he already trusts me a lot, and the other attending on Tuesday's when I go is Dr. Goldman who is quite awesome as well. I like the clinic more than I thought I would and I think it is in no small part due to these preceptors. That and it is neat/weird being a kid's PMD.

Sammy - that big chubby ball of fun. He is crawling ALL over the place now - he'll follow me and Shosh around our apartment - he is cruising and is almost ready to take a few steps it seems. He'll run around pushing his weighted down stroller around the apartment and is just a blast to be with. I am VERY glad I have had an easy summer so I can continue to see/play with Sammy a ton. He is so yummy. And come on - doesn't he look

Anyways -we went to LIJ last shabbos to hang with some med school friends - the Hosch's, Boyarsky's, Tovah, Aliza, Josh and Akiva, Kenny as well, but unfortunatley he was sick and on call. It was a blast. Sammy and Jakey Hoschander had a great time together - too bad it was shabbso for we missed some amazing photo ops.

Our apartment is getting more together. I have built multiple shelves, a big ikea thing (with tons of help from Shosh), been unpacking, hanging pictures etc etc etc. But it is nice- we got new carpet, anew stove (finally) though today there was a bit of a leak in the apartment. But all is good.

Haven't heard much new music - but I do like the song Hate Me by Blue October. I downloaded the Panic! at the disco album but have yet to have a chance to listen to it. Just saw Field of Dreams - which was really an amazing amazing movie - great story and good acting. Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones --> I loved it. I am in the midst of War of the Worlds which is eh, ok.

Sports - our FFL auction is almost over, I'm pretty happy with my team and looking forward to the season. I think I have a good chance of repeating. Both my FBL teams are doing pretty well - in 2nd in both AL/NL right now. Mets are doing great, Yanks are hot and in 1st place and the Raiders play in the first pre-season game this Sunday night.

Of course, most of my concentration is focused on what is going on in Israel. I'm really going crazy about this as weare scheduled to go in 2 weeks from Sunday, and I am very torn. I suppose we shall see.

I will hopefully get back to more regular posts - next one Saturday night.
